MITI - 2D Animated short film depicting the first experiences of a young tree

Raum M3.02

The project uses storytelling techniques to create a dramatic narrative showing how trees relate to each other with the aim of making the audience empathetic to trees. The story revolves around a young tree called True, facing challenges and discovering his secret hidden connection to the older trees.
The story is based on recently discovered scientific facts about trees and how the vast underground root system unifies the trees. Older trees use this connection to nature their young and have a resemblance to a human-like relationship. Tree seedlings growing in such an environment have a higher chance of survival, therefore, finding ways to conserve the old trees is necessary to retain and regrow our forests.

The project sound score composition was created by Oliver Quiring, and the animation segment that shows the other world was animated by Patrick La Van.
